Privacy at Jack’s Break

Your puzzles, your progress, your choices.

Jack’s Break offers 9 logic games without a player account. Private operator accounts are used only to administer the site. Optional Google Analytics and fixed Google ads are available only on our public site, subject to your privacy choices and external ad review.

Your progress and preferences stay in this browser, with no cloud sync. Clearing browser data or using private browsing can lose your saves. Use Share → Download this board to keep a copy you can import later. Server backups do not back up your browser saves.

Puzzle and hint computation uses our server. Opening or creating a puzzle sends its code or settings; hints send the current entries and notes they need. Importing a downloaded board also sends its contents for validation.

Our first-party analytics count page views, starts or resumes of unfinished games, completions, delivered hints and applied hints as daily totals. These totals do not identify players or visits and use no analytics cookies. They contain only the public page, the game name and the event category; referrers are reduced to their origin, with a daily limit on distinct origins. Puzzle codes, query strings, entries, notes, seeds, downloads, timers, attempts and user or session identifiers are excluded.

Analytics totals cover the most recent 90 UTC dates; cleanup runs at recorder startup and daily while it runs, retrying after failures. Private server statistics group requests by fixed route, status, duration and broad client category. Their hourly totals currently have no automatic expiry; only the latest 200 problem records are retained. They contain no raw addresses, user agents, referrer paths or gameplay payloads. Operator pages require a secure session cookie in production; game players do not need that cookie.

Temporary traffic-abuse protection uses network addresses in server memory to limit requests; people sharing an address share a limit. Records become eligible for cleanup after ten minutes of inactivity. Later requests remove them in small batches; without later requests they remain until a server restart, which clears all records. The app’s puzzle API completion logs record the endpoint, status and duration, not entries or notes. This describes the app, not a hosting-provider log or retention policy.

Optional Google Analytics measures public page views and the same four game events. It loads only when analytics is permitted. Google Analytics user and event data retention is set to two months, with reset on new activity off. This setting is separate from standard aggregate reports and Google cookie lifetimes; it does not mean all Google data disappears after two months.

Our Google Analytics integration sends only broad page categories (Home, Sudoku, Suguru or Privacy), constant page titles, origin-only referrers, event names and the game name (Sudoku or Suguru). It never supplies puzzle codes, seeds, entries, notes, saved progress, downloaded data, timers, attempts or our own player/session identifiers to Google. Google may use its own identifiers and cookies after permission. Google Signals, remarketing and ad personalization signals for Analytics are disabled.

Google AdSense may show a fixed advertisement on the puzzle chooser and below the play workspace. Ads can use cookies and Google identifiers according to your choices and applicable signals. After you refuse consent, Google may still show eligible limited ads without using personal data for personalization. Limited ads may use cookies or local storage solely to detect invalid traffic and prevent abuse. Refusing analytics keeps our Google Analytics integration off. Standard AdSense can receive the actual page URL, including a public shareable puzzle code in its path. We do not supply your entries, notes, saved progress, downloads or attempt state as advertising payloads. Ads do not appear on the Privacy page or on account, operator or error pages. Ad availability depends on external review and advertiser demand; a reserved space does not mean ads are approved or serving.

Use Privacy choices in the footer to revisit Google’s regional consent message, or Do not sell/share for US opt-out choices where available. Analytics and advertising choices are independent. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track turn off our Google Analytics integration and request restricted processing for otherwise permitted ads. Revoking permission reloads the page to stop loaded Google contexts; it does not delete your saved games or notes. If privacy services are unavailable, optional tags stay off and you can keep playing.
